Nutritional Therapy for Fatigue

Tired all the time?

We’re all familiar with the feelings of tiredness – it’s hard to get going, your muscles hurt, even small tasks are a huge effort and all you want to do is crawl back into bed. But when tiredness is not relieved by rest and sleep and is long-term and overwhelming, it becomes fatigue.

There are many potential causes of fatigue including:

  • Poor quality or volume of sleep
  • Food sensitivities or intolerances
  • Deficiencies of vitamin and minerals required for energy production in the body
  • Anaemia
  • Certain diseases including coeliac disease and diabetes
  • ME/CFS and/or fibromyalgia
  • Underactive thyroid (hypothydoism or Hashimoto’s disease
  • Adrenal insufficiency
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Infections or being ill

fatigue

If you’ve not been able to overcome your fatigue and it is preventing you from living your life as you would like, perhaps it’s time to seek expert, professional help tailored to you.

How can a Nutritional Therapist help?

A Nutritional Therapist recognises that everyone is unique – the underlying cause or causes of your fatigue may not be the same as the next person’s. As a result, there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to recommendations for overcoming fatigue and increasing and maintaining energy.

After taking a full medical history and reviewing your food and lifestyle diary, a Functional Medicine Nutritional Therapist will consider ALL the potential causes of your fatigue and identify and prioritise the next steps to be taken that are relevant to you. These may include:

  • Recommending dietary changes and in some cases supplements to boost vitamins and minerals needed for energy production
  • Referring you to your GP for further testing where it can be accessed free of charge
  • Recommending private testing not available on the NHS
  • Advising on lifestyle changes including diet, exercise and relaxation

Your personalised recommendations will be reviewed at each appointment to evaluate how they have been incorporated into your life and how effective they have been and your plan will be amended and updated accordingly. A course of 4 appointments 4 to 6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal outcomes and to allow sufficient time for changes to manifest.

The Nutritional Therapists at Irrefutable Health have helped many people overcome fatigue and improve and maintain their energy levels with personalised plans tailored to their individual circumstances and goals.
