Massage can be used to treat adhesions throughout your body or simply as a deep guided form of relaxation.

Therapeutic and/or Sports Massage Uncontrolled chronic stress or bleeding into an area following an injury can cause adhesions. Adhesions decrease movement, circulation, flexibility and may lead to inflammation which in time could cause pain and stiffness. At times a deep tissue massage may be needed to break down your adhesions, breaking the cycle by introducing controlled movements of deep strokes of varied pressure to the area of concern to improve the soft tissue elasticity in muscles and around ligaments and tendons, providing a sense of ease.

You First Massage. Your therapist will begin your initial session with a review of some of the questions from our preliminary digital intake form (paper version available on request) about your medical history, complaints, symptoms, preferences and goals of care. Your masseur will perform an examination using hands-on methods to locate areas of tension and tenderness in the area of concern.

In the Irrefutable Health clinical setting, you lay on a specific table, either in loose-fitting clothing or undressed under a cover. Please discuss any concerns you may have with your masseur. They will try to work with your preference in keeping clothing on, or we may suggest that you consider wearing your swimming costume, shorts and/or a vest. The therapist may discreetly expose the area being massaged and oil or lotion may be used to reduce friction on the skin. Massage duration may vary. Some specifically-targeted sports massage sessions can be short, while others can last up to an hour.

The length of the massage is determined by the purpose and severity of your condition as well as your preference for the type of massage. Like swimming, do not eat 90 minutes prior to your massage. Following the session, it is recommended to drink lots of water to flush out any toxins which will be released during the massage and an Epsom salt bath may be advisable to sooth any tissue that may flare following a deep tissue massage that targets deep adhesions. A person may infrequently experience a temporary increase in discomfort or pain, bruising, or swelling. We will inquire in advance for any potential allergic reaction to massage oils or lotions used.
