Meet Haleema Sheikh

Functional Medicine GP

Haleema Sheikh has been working as medical doctor in the UK for 20 years and as a GP for 12 years. After qualifying she planned to specialise in hospital medicine (haematology), but she soon realised that she did not want to just concentrate on one body system and so changed career paths to General Practice to look holistically at people in the context of their family and community.
Over the last few years, Haleema has become increasingly aware of the significant rise in chronic health conditions, autoimmunity and non-communicable diseases which often present with a variety of non-specific symptoms including headaches, joint pains, mood disorders, weight gain and a lack of energy. Frustrated at not having a clear framework to navigate her patients back to health, Haleema discovered the functional medicine approach which searches for the root cause of symptoms and focuses on how lifestyle can be a critical factor in creating and optimising health.
Haleema is passionate about using her medical knowledge and training to help clients identify and address the underlying cause of their symptoms discover personalised pathways to regain, maintain and optimise their health. She particularly enjoys working with clients with hormonal issues, gut problems and those struggling with fatigue and low energy.
